XANT Do Good Foundation Transforms Maple Dell Scout Camp Into an Extreme High-Adventure Destination
SILICON SLOPES, Utah – June 5, 2014 –Maple Dell Scout Camp is one of the oldest camps serving young men and women with summer camping and high-adventure activities in Utah. Following years of camping fun, the historical camp is showing its age. One Provo company, XANT, the leading cloud-based sales acceleration technology company, is doing something about that by donating revenue and employee time for the renovation and restoration of Maple Dell to ensure the camp can serve active teenagers, coed Venturing crews and local civic organizations for many years to come.
Through its Do Good Foundation, the company donates 1 percent of its time, 1 percent of its product and 1 percent of its revenue to local worthy causes. The company selected Maple Dell Scout Camp, part of the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America, as one of its recipients.
“Maple Dell has a strong tradition of providing wonderful camping experiences for young men and women,” said Dave Elkington, XANT CEO and founder. “We’re thrilled to be able to help the camp become one of the most exciting extreme high-adventure destinations in the U.S. for generations to come. We challenge other local companies to join us by donating money, time and resources to improve the other 11 Scout camps in the Utah National Parks Council.”
XANT has already donated a significant amount of cash to help renovate and modernize many of the facilities within the camp. Additionally, the company and its employees are helping install a high-adventure Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) ropes course. The course helps youth attain motivational goals. It will also install zip lines as well as an inflatable “wipeout” obstacle course on the lake. Other amenities will include new vinyl docks, a new waterfront sandy beach area and an outdoor rock-climbing facility.
“The Utah National Parks Council serves more than 87,000 youth members and 42,000 adult volunteers,” said Council Executive David Pack. “We could never touch so many lives without the support of generous local companies like XANT. We invite other organizations to join them in preserving and beautifying all of our camps across the state.”
For the last three weeks, XANT has been sending its employees to the camp to help with cleanup, painting and renovation in preparation for the upcoming summer camp season. XANT employees will be clearing brush, cutting wood, repairing the garage door of a boat house, creating concrete anchors, installing benches at the chapel, repairing picnic tables, painting, putting up tent frames and setting up tents, and a host of other items.
The Clyde Companies also contributed to the Maple Dell project by donating materials, such as sand, rocks and boulders, as well as labor and equipment. Clyde’s trucks hauled a large amount of mud and soil after the camp’s lake was dredged, and it dispatched loaders and graders to Maple Dell.
“Clyde is committed to contributing to the community in any way we can,” said Al Schellenberg, Clyde’s spokesman on the project. “Scouting is a vital part of our local community, and Clyde is pleased to partner with XANT to improve Camp Maple Dell for the benefit of our youth.”
“Maple Dell is being transformed into an extreme high-adventure destination for local youth,” said Ken Krogue, XANT president and founder. “It will provide a safe, fun place for our youth to learn valuable lessons that will serve them well throughout their lives.”
The Do Good Foundation’s board chooses causes on a monthly and annual basis. Each year, it commits to several small projects, as well as one large project to involve each employee. It is committed to helping the underprivileged, children and women in need, and the mentally and emotionally challenged. Its efforts are focused on 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Utah County that spend at least 90 percent of their budget to directly provide services to the populations they serve. The Do Good Foundation’s goal is to help facilitate self-reliance as it helps others further their education and better their living standards and environment.
